Wishlist Friday

Hey there.

I am the most spoilt woman alive, outside of Eloise obvz. Ellie's godmother came over yesterday and gave us the most lovely gift bag of goodies and treats, all so lovely and thoughtful, following a very clear festive theme! Then my bestie, Monster Makeupxx called over with a bag of swag for Ellie and a little something for myself. Can you guess what it was?? I am honestly one of the last people to try it, and I already sense how obsessed I am! Today's post is all about these generous women in our lives and how to do our best to appreciate them.

I am not good in social situations with other people. I am very over bearing and too talkative and I just want people to like me. And my very close friends love me despite this.  They're funny and kind and beautiful. They've loved me before and since Eloise. And I'll get the absolute hole mocked off me for writing this, and they'd be dead right too.

#Sister:
This is the kind of friend who has become as close as a sister to you. She pulls you up on all your stupid shite, but she'll pull herself just as quick. She keeps you grounded and makes you understand that you can be a top blitzer, regardless of your short comings. And if you're very lucky she'll be the godmother to, and a wonderful example for, your daughter.

Some ideas?

Bestie:
This girl has been too good to you for too long. She has oceans of  'Get-Up-And-Go' and she's only to happy to share it. Whether it's giving you lifts to work, helping you set up your blog, dropping everything at a moments notice for you or being as in love with Shaaanxo as you are, she is one in 7 billion. She would move mountains for you, because that's who she is.

What do you give the women who doesn't want anything?

                                                                                                    Too cute!

                                        Swatches-Article

Soulmate:
You can have more than one soulmate. If you can have multiple children and love them all the same, why can't you have more than one person who changes your life in the deepest way imaginable? Their sadness is yours to fix, their happiness is yours to emphasis and their triumphs are yours to broadcast. This person makes your heart bigger and your darkness brighter. Soulmate is just another word for best friend.

What do you give the person who deserves more than you can give? I never know what to give her, so I always end up buying her things I think she'd like, but she mightn't. Friendship is about being nudged out of your comfort zone too!

These three friends I've mentioned? If you're very lucky, they're all of your friends. Each and every friend I have is some combination of the people I've mentioned. I just hope the person I am is a reflection of how wonderful they all are.

I'm going to be posting less often for the next two week so I can enjoy Eloise's first Christmas, but I'll still be regularly updating InstagramFacebook and Twitter
Thank you for reading, as always, if you have any feedback please leave a comment here or on any of my social media! I've tried a different layout today, what do you think of it?

Wishlist Wednesday

Hey there.

'Tis the season for joy and sharing. I love giving presents. I love the happiness that rushes across someone's face as it dawns on them what you've given them. I love thinking about what would make someone happy. To give and to expect nothing back is love. I don't think I'm hard to shop for- my friend's generally say I'm just happy to have been thought of! But I do know I have a nasty habit of buying presents for myself close to my birthday and Christmas. It's just because I don't like people wasting money on me! So this week I'm trying to do a kind of Gift Guide, taking inspiration from presents I've bought the loved males in my life previously!

Men seem hard to buy for, for some reason. I've no idea why. I've spent my life surrounded by wonderful men, and I'm always afraid I'll get them something they mightn't like. So my fool proof plan for making sure it's something they'll always like? Ask them. Men are so practical. Ask them what they want/need. Chances are they'll tell you the truth. Women (I know) love receiving items they can't justify getting for themselves, men love getting items they haven't gotten round to buying yet. I am a strange hybrid that always ends up buying the items I shouldn't have justified!

Partner:
As far as I'm concerned, this is the easy one. Kris' birthday is New Years Eve, I pick out maybe 10 I think he'll like then I get him to go through them and finalise what he wants. It doesn't sound romantic when I break it down like that, but nothing makes me as happy as seeing his face shine when he's finally allowed wear it. I need to point out now, Kris is much more stylish than I am, so his big present is usually clothes. Last year we picked out an amazing waxed flight jacket from Debenhams similar to this. I managed to get the coat at the start of November when there was a 30% off sale! I'll also get this three surprises, one for Christmas and two for this birthday. I love TK Maxx for stocking fillers for men. I have gotten him so many books over the years- cookery books, a huge book all about James Bond with posters, even a casserole dish! (Disclaimer: Kris is sound and loves cooking, I amn't a total mog.)

Here are some ideas for the man in your life:

Not the exact same but as close as I could find!

I love a good brown coat. Dress coats are always appreciated!

Brothers:
Myself and my brothers are so bad at giving each other presents. I do try, but generally I travel up home Christmas Eve and I cannot be arsed hauling a massive bag of presents for them. In fact for many years I've given them socks and jocks- not so glamourous, but definitely worn anyway. My youngest brothers birthday is the 12th of December, so I always do my best to make sure he gets a bit spoilt. This year, at his request, he's getting a voucher for a restaurant he likes and he is bringing Eloise to see Santa on Monday! You don't have to spend a fortune to make someone happy, he does so much for us and it makes me so happy knowing how much he wants to do this.

Some ideas for the men who've made you the patient person you are today:

For the Pádraig in your life

For your very own Seán

And for the most blessed of all- Éoin

Daddy:
This man deserves everything he could ever hope for, and so much more. This year he's getting a pair of slacks, because that's what he needs. I've always come home for Christmas, and now this year he gets to have his daughter and his granddaughter at the table. He is the most loving, patient man, and now he has a new Puddin' to dote on. I can't think of a better present for him.

What do you give the man who has everything?

A nice whiskey is always appreciated!

He bloody loves this eejit.

I've tried to include a few bits for everyone, and the beauty with men is you could swap around any of these for any of them. Although I don't know how delighted Éoin would be with the DVD, you can rest assured he'd love the boots or the whiskey!

I'm going to wrap this up (lawl) with the Female Guift Guide on Wednesday! Anything you think I should definitely include? Anything you'd add to the above post? Leave a comment here, or contact me on Facebook, Instagram or Tweet me!

F.O.M.O. Friday

Hey there.

How is Christmas two weeks away? I've nothing done and I should be more panicked but I'm not. I'm just ignoring it and I'm going to blame my lack of preparation on Eloise and no one will say boo to me. (Fun Fact: for every two times your child has you late for something, there will be at least one occasion where you blame your child for being 'fussy', etc, when in reality you took your sweet time going out that door because it suited you for a change.) When she is being the Ultimate Dose and I've only time to do one thing for myself, I will always without fail check to see if I've lip balm. My lips get parched so easily, especially in this weather. I have several squirreled away all over my apartment, one in any bag I use on a regular basis and one in my coat pocket. As things stand, I could be at worse things. Before we start, I'm very picky about my balms. I have no reaction, but I do get over powered by any taste or smell from lip balms.

About half my collection

On my nightstand is my trusty Blistex Relief Cream (you can get this in Boots, but for some reason it's not showing up). If you haven't used this before, be careful. It has ammonia in it, which gives it that "good burning so it must be working" sensation. I put a decent layer of it on every night before bed. It's generally €4-€4.50 and lasts me about 4-5 months. My lips feel so soft every morning, and it's doesn't leave a weird taste or gross film on you lips. Wears into the skin.

My every day lip balm (permanently on the coffee table, or thrown into the baby bag if I remember) is the NUXE Reve de Miel. I'm completely converted to this. The slight taste of honey, how you can almost feel the crystals on you lips, down to the packaging. This balm has made me a snob, and I do not mind. It leaves an almost matte finish, which acts as a wonderful primer under lipstick. It locks in moisture without forming a film, no over powering taste or scent. It wears nicely into you skin.Yes it is quite pricey, but it lasts about 6 months, the packaging is glass so you can't just throw it around and lose it and you are fancy if you use this, and everyone wants to be fancy. I order mine from Cloud10Beauty

The Wild Argan Lip Oil from The Body Shop was my go-to balm previous to the NUXE discovery. It's basically if Vaseline lip balms weren't rotten. I hate Vaseline balms. They hardly moisturise, leave a vile taste and smell weird. This balm does leave a bit of a taste, and wears off rather than wears into the skin, so isn't as effective as it could be.I was okay with this product for about 5 months, then it started catching me at the back of my palette. I have no other way to put this sensation. Have you ever had this from a product? Can you describe it better than me? If you are looking for a better, more luxurious alternative to Vaseline, definitely treat yourself to this.

Recently I've been using a Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast stick. This is a decent balm. No major complaints, no major praise. It suits me for days. I'm wearing lipstick, and this time of year it's darker, matte shades I wear. The stick allows a cleaner application, or allows me to dab it on dry areas, keeping the over all matte effect. It's cheap, cheerful and effective. And comfortable on the lip on top of or underneath lipstick.

Now for two balms I do not like. Burt's Bees lip balm. I found the application dragged across my lips, and felt almost chalky. Felt like it never melted onto my lips, let alone into them. I bought this because I love a good bandwagon and I absolutely should not have. I bought the Blueberry and Dark Chocolate flavour. Now clearly I had high hopes for this. Absolutely no pay off moisture or flavour wise. Will never repurchase, not when Blistex do it better for cheaper (I just think €5 is a bit saucy for a stick of lip balm).

My last balm is my biggest beauty regret. And I used to pluck above my brow rather than below. Benefit's Benebalm. I hate you. One day I wandered into Boots, very hungover and very sorry for myself. Clearly only an unnecessary luxury could fix me. No. No it didn't. €20 for something with hardly any colour pay off and tastes like soap. It catches me so badly at the back of my palette. I would have tried it, but rather than wiping the bullet on my finger, etc, the girl by the counter was applying the product directly on her lips. I was delicate as it was. No need to see that. I will never get that money back. This haunts me. It was just so overpriced and so soapy. Please do not buy this. Buy Benetint and mix it on the back of your hand into some lip balm.

My top tips for keeping you lips in great shape are:
  • Gently exfoliate lips using a sugar scrub before brushing your teeth, or gently rub a soft toothbrush across your lips.
  • Lots of lip balm. If you find one you love, use it. The thinnest skin is on your lips, it needs a lot of love.
  • Don't pick at any dry skin you do have, no matter how satisfying it is!
  • Don't lick you lips! You may think you're adding moisture, but your saliva contains acids that helps break down foods, which irritates your skin.
My top three!

Any lip balms you can't live without? Let me know here, on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter!

Wishlist Wednesday

Hey there.

Happy Hump Day! I didn't understand that phrase until recently, I honestly thought it was a bit saucy originally. I'm very dim sometimes! Anyway, what better way to help you through your mid-week hump than a nose in my Swag Bags from the Debenhams #DebsBeautyBuzz #FoundIt event? I love hauls and 'morning/evening routines' in other blogs and on YouTube. I'm such an old woman, I just love knowing other peoples business.

Firstly, I must say a massive thank you to Debenhams themselves. After hearing all about their wonderful Personal Shopper service, each blogger who attended was gifted a €50 voucher. Now I know generosity like this is probably the norm, but wow, this was my first event and I really was not expecting this. I figured we would probably get goodie bags from some of the brands we were speaking with, but I honestly didn't expect to just be handed a voucher of this value. Even thinking of it has me slack jawed. I was so taken aback that, instead of purchasing a serum that I should invest in, or a cleansing oil I've wanted to try for a while, or even a make up essential I adore but can't justify the price right now, I instead bought an absolute unnecessary luxury that I love more than words already (and I'll be doing a seperate blog post about after Christmas) and a mini of the Perversion mascara that I've wanted to try for ages. And I would have been beyond grateful for all this alone.

We then rocked up to Benefit who gifted us the cutest items ever. We were given this absolutely adorable cosmetics case and the most beautiful luggage tag, both with the motto "Laughter Is The Best Cosmetic!". Before I go any further, there is absolutely no need for how adorable these items are. I 'ooohh'ed and 'aaahh'ed at these like they were the children of relations. Then at the bottom of the bag, my life was made. A mini Porefessional and License to Blot (think blotting paper in stick form). The packaging for this set is beyond adorable. I love Benefit as a brand, I think their attention to detail is flawless. I will use this cosmetics bag to death, I'm gifting the luggage tag to one of my besties, as I will be doing with the primer (I already have two on the go, and I love converting people to this product), but I will be keeping the blotting stick. I hate bringing any make up on nights out, I'm always afraid of losing it, so I never have any powder for touch ups and am always a reflective mess by the end of a night. Looking forward to trying this product out, as it's so compact. Will probably do a mini review on my Facebook for anyone interested?

If I thought Benefit and Debenhams were generous, I don't even know what to make of Urban Decay. We got teeny tiny minis of two of my Holy Grail items; the Eyeshadow Primer Potion and the All Nighter Setting Spray. I won't do my make up without either of these products. My eyelids are so oily that the Inglot AMC liner in 77 smudges about halfway through the day without the primer, let alone the creasing of my eyeshadows. And my make up just looks so much more vivid and HD with this spray. I feel like such a badass every time I spritz it. No idea why, I just do and I love it. We were given a 7 Days Of Shadow deluxe sampler, which the brand have never done before. I won't say much about it as I'm thinking of doing a facial look book built around the shades. There's a purple and a  green I would never dream of using normally, so I'm excited to do something like this. Each of us got a full sized single eyeshadow too. I got the shade Stray Dog and I'm weak for it. It's the perfect mid-tone taupe. Just a bit of a sheen. This will work all over the lid as well as the crease. And I think it'll really make my blue eyes pop! I'll try to incorporate this into a few looks and spam my Instagram, for anyone who's interested. We ended our whirlwind beauty tour at Urban Decay and I couldn't think of a brand I'd rather have finished with. I cannot wait to put all the make up on my face at once.

There's no two ways about it, we were absolutely spoilt by Debenhams, Benefit and Urban Decay. I didn't start my blog to get free stuff , I started it because I'm passionate about beauty and writing. To have my friends tell me they enjoyed my last blog still blows my mind, and having brands like these give me anything is too much for words. Thank you so much for reading my blog, and to the brands mentioned for an amazing evening. Also a huge thanks to Bare Minerals for the very generous sample of Lash Domination and their BareSkin foundation. The kind girl gave me a shade to match me and one a good bit darker, so I can finally attempt some liquid/cream contouring! Any reviews/looks/posts you'd like to see after hearing what I was given in my Swag Bags? I'm also thinking of doing a comparison post on my two new mascaras? As always, feel free to comment here, or through my Instagram, Facebook, or Tweet me!

(Not a) Selfie Sunday

Hey there.

Dat Sleek Face Form highlight doe!

Usually on Sundays I upload a selfie, give a list of everything used my my hair and skin and focus on one item mentioned. But this week myself and Kris are using a voucher from last Christmas and going to the spa! I imagine that I'll be having security trying to wrestle me from the relaxation suite as this goes live (Ellie Bell's will be getting spoiled by Nanny and Opa), so this week I will be telling you all about the Debenhams #DebsBeautyBuzz #FoundIt event myself and a few other lovely girls (and yes we all have lovely bottoms) were lucky enough to attend on Friday night.

Early last week Debenhams Ireland reached out to some local Cork and the surrounding areas bloggers to invite us to their event in Mahon Point SC on Friday 04/12. Kris was working 'til 9pm, so very kindly Nanny stepped in and said she'd babysit, so after a girls day in town, my Boo came and collected me and we bombed off to Mahon for 6pm. When we got to the Insomnia upstairs in Debenhams, we were greeted with glasses of prosecco and the most delicious little cakes and chocolate dipped strawberries. It was such a lovely opportunity to sit down and talk with other Cork based bloggers, and any moment I get with a glass of prosecco is always welcomed!

Before we went on our beauty counter tour, we got a talk about the Debenhams Personal Shopper service. It's a free service, 7 days a week, with 4 personal shoppers being available in the Mahon Point branch. You can block book anywhere from a 30 minute visit up to 3+ hours. They cover accessories as well, not just clothes and there's no hassle with queueing and requeueing for the fitting rooms- they have a personal shopper room you can take advantage of to use as a changing room! And you get to skip the queues at the registers, if you choose to buy anything (which there is absolutely no obligation to do) you'll be brought straight up to a register by whoever is with you and served as soon as! But my favourite thing? The service is twinned with Benefit and Urban Decay, so not only can they help with your Christmas lists (and not jut beauty related) but you also get a free makeover by one of the brands, and this time of year, with work Christmas parties, this is an absolute gift from above!

First on our whirlwind beauty tour was the Benefit counter! Each and every Benebabe we spoke to were lovely. We were treated to a Benebrow tutorial, with one very brave girl from Bare Minerals baring her brows and getting waxed for our education. We were shown how Benefit map out the brows, why they wax from above and the importance of the tint for shape and the appearance of fullness. Benefit also guarantee "no double dipping"- a clean stick is dipped into the pot for each wax application. The Benefit in Mahon Point stands out for many reasons (lovely staff, cute decor, so much space for myself and a potential buggy, I could go on) but it's the first Benefit in Ireland to host it's own in store beauty boutique! Outside of the South William St. boutique, it's the only Benefit to offer a full range of body waxing, and has a tanning room too, equipped with a Vita Liberata stocked tanning gun. Out on the visible floor there are 6 stations where brow waxing and tinting, upper lip and face waxing (you should see how crisp it makes a contour line!) can take place, all of which are done with a warm honey wax, the same wax used for underarm, arm and leg waxing. They use a hot wax for intimate waxing. I know it's a necessity to some, but even typing "intimate waxing" makes me cringe. They offer a modest bikini wax to the sauce pot of waxes, the Hollywood.

 Before                                                           After

Next up we got a wonderful skincare demo from the lovely ladies in Clarins. Those red uniforms scream "I don't faff about with my skincare and I won't let you". Well, sternly say, I don't think if you work in Clarins you're allowed scream? Firstly we were told about their All in One, Cleanser and Toner. I love my Garnier miscellar water, for a first/lazy and I'll never admit it out loud cleanse, but I feel my skin needs and wants more. I doubt I could afford this every time, but I really do want to try this at least once. Just imagine being slightly hungover and how smug you'd be with your vague recollection of using Clarins to remove your slightly too smokey eye from the night before, because yes, this is gentle enough, but stern enough to remove eye make up. We were also told a small bit about the Double Serum- their number 1 selling serum- it contains 20 vitamins and is great to introduce to your arsenal as an early anti wrinkle product. It also hydrates and plumps, which I am all about. It gave instant radiance, and most importantly, boosts moisture. What I found most interesting was the application process- in Clarins they don't rub in moisturiser etc, they massage it between the fingers and press it into the skin, to help the product penetrate as deeply as possibly, meaning your product is used as effectively as possible, and you're not pulling and dragging the skin. Between the after glow of the Double Serum, and how relaxing the application looked, this product is very firmly on my New Years Resolutions list (will explain more in a later post!).

And lastly, oh my goodness, we got to see a make over performed by the talented Shirley from Urban Decay, using the stunning Gwen palette. It's their first celebrity collaboration, and the packaging screams Gwen. It looks like it's a prop that's been shrunken down from The Sweet Escape video. This is a compliment. I bloody love that song. 3 shades are repromotes (Blackout is the only one I'm sure of the name, sorry). What excites me even more is the palette comes with 4 samples of lipsticks ( Feb. 2016 release date)- a true red, ultra matte finish; 2 cream finish, an amazing hot pink with metallic purple going through, and a deep, dark red; and a sheer finish nude. All shades have been named by Gwen, which I think adds a little something to the range. The mirror in the palette is bigger than Eloise when she was born! It is just amazing. Nearly worth the price for the mirror alone. I was so enamoured with the palette, I ended up buying it. I'll be doing a blog post in 3 weeks time about the palette, and a full range of looks I've managed to do with it!

After we'd done out shopping, the very kind girl from Bare Minerals, who got some new Benebrows, called us over and gave myself and two others some samples. They weren't part of the event, but were so kind to give us samples. I got two BareSkin foundations, one in my own shade and one a few shades darker, so I can attempted some liquid contouring, and a tiny sample of the Lash Domination mascara as well. Both Benefit and Urban Decay gave us very generous gift bags too. I'm going to do a full blog post about what we were gifted. I just want to say a huge thank you to all the brands for their generosity, as well as Debenhams for extending the invite. Emma thank you so much for organising everything, and the prosecco too! And to all the girls who were so friendly and warm at my first event, a very special thank you! And a very big thanks to Monster Makeupxx for letting me use all these photos, my phone is a disgrace! Thank you Boo!

Check out Kelsey

As always, thank you for taking the time to read, any comments or feedback, feel free to comment on this post, on Instagram, Facebook, or Tweet me! Anything other than an UDxGwen review, and of course, a nose through my swag bags you want to see?

F.O.M.O. Friday

Hey there.

Welcome to another F.O.M.O. Friday, where I review a different product every week, so you don't have to worry if you're missing out or not!

This week I'll be talking about the Sleek Face Form palette.

Clearly a well loved palette!

I have been using this palette for about 18 months, and I still don't hate it. I'm a very fickle person, and my feelings on a product, much less three, can change on a dime, so this is huge for me. I had wanted to try contouring for some time, some people make it look so simple! At €13.49 I really couldn't leave it. I'm quite pale, so outside of contouring I don't wear/own bronzer. I opted for this in Light as while I'm pale, I also have yellow undertones and was worried the highlighter and blusher would't suit me, which is why I left the Fair behind. I doubt there's that much between the two shades, but as I generally prefer to wear as little make up as possible (as I talk about my contouring palette, I know!), so I like the darker shade, as I don't need to build up the colour with it. It is quite a warm brown, but I quite like this- I prefer warmer shades on myself. It is not the most blendable powder, but like everything else in life, persevere and you'll find a way to make it work for you.

I look so jaundiced here!

I have to say, I don't love the blusher in this palette. Colourwise it is very similar to Nars Orgasm (which I've only swatched on my arm). It blends fine, gives a cute sheen, it doesn't do anything wrong. During my pregnancy I was very lucky and had a beautiful glow under my make up, through a combination of hormones and because I increased the amount of water I drank. Yes I looked bloated from water retention, but my skin looked so plumped and hydrated. I feel that a cream blush gives me more of a dewy, radiant glow. Basically this blusher does nothing wrong, but it also does nothing right for me.

Another awkward selfie. You're welcome.

I love this highlighter. It's subtle and very versatile. You can layer it over a liquid highlighter to give some extra dimension, which I am obsessed with doing. It's also a very buildable product, so I can decide the end result, giving me a more natural day time option and can work my way up to all out glamour glow. If I were only to have one highlighter, this is the one. It's creamy and blendable, and quite a peachy shade, which I really love. I think it looks more natural on my skin. It looks lovely in the inner corner and below the brow. It's an all round highlighter. And it's so cheap and it makes me look luminescent.

If you're looking for an all-round palette, for someone just getting into make up, or someone who's not sure what they want or need, this is a great item. If you have a highlighter you like, or a bronzer or blush, you could skip this. I'm very sentimental about this item, as it is a good item and it's been good to me, but I also know there are better items out there. It's just I'll always be the type of person to buy two almost identical lipsticks, yet I honestly begrudge buying a new bronzer, which probably would suit me better, when I already have a grand enough one. I love the highlighter, I'm grateful to have a bronzer and I do not like the blush. I hope this clears it up better!

As always, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! This was more of a rambling post, more like a chit chat. Do you prefer when there's slightly more structure? Would you like a post dedicated to the brushes I use to achieve this look? Or on any make up looks? I'm on FacebookInstagram and Twitter, and love getting comments on any of my blog posts!

Wishlist Wednesday

Hey there.

This week I'll be talking about products for my absolute favourite feature- my eyebrows. No feature has the ability to transform your face, and look, as much as your brows. I personally prefer a defined, dark, groomed big brow, so essentially I want Audrey Hepburn's eyebrows. Em Ford shows they don't need to be as thick, while the absolutely stunning Lex shows you don't need thick, dark brows to be beautiful. Once they are properly groomed for your face, to enhance your natural beauty rather than to be the main feature on your face, all sized and shaped brows are beautiful. Some of these products I have, some I sit at home mooning about, and some seem so intimidating that I don't know if I'd ever be enough of a Billy Big Balls to use them!

7 years of a difference!

Before we talk products, let's get one thing straight. If you're serious about brows, you need to get a professional to shape them, at least once. As a teen, I abused mine to the point of the social services taking them away. I say as a teen, but it was until I was about 22. I'd say 9 good solid years of abuse. I never thought I could have decent brows. I honestly never even expected them to grow back. But with patience, hope and the skills of an AMAZING brow artist they will eventually emerge. I've been going to Sharon for the past 4 years, and the woman is absolute magic. The above brows were done by the beautiful Jane and I'm obsessed. Either of these women will perform a miracle if you let them.

Image taken from the Benefit Cosmetics website

Upon the foundation of a good shaping, you need bricks, mortar and tools to build your beautiful brows. I adore my Benefit Brow Zings, available easily from Boots, Debenhams and Brown Thomas. For me, living in Cork, these are my easiest options, but I generally buy from Boots, when possible, as they have the best points system if you have a rewards card. I buy this in the darkest shade, as I adore dark brows on me. I either wear black glasses, or a strong coloured lip generally so I can balance it out. This kit is expensive at €34, but I've had mine for at least two years. Manky yes, but I don't share it and it doesn't smell. I also don't use it anywhere close to my eyes and spot clean my brush before use, to minimise the bacteria as best as possible. Look I spent €34 on this. I'll be buried with it if there's still some left in the pan. I have heard that the Sleek kit is comparable, but as I haven't used it I couldn't say. I do like that it comes in an extra shade, making it a more universal product than the original. I love both of these kits as they come with brushes for application.

Personally speaking I only used the angled brush, carving out my shape on the top and bottom, and filling them in from the tail to the front. I am dire at imitating hair (some people make it look so effortless), so I carve out the front of my brow only on the bottom, and sweep/blend it up towards the top, if that makes sense. While I loved the brush that came with my Brow Zing, my First World Problems life has been changed by the Blank Canvas Cosmetics E30. This is a double ended spoolie/brow brush. It is just the perfect brush for my brows. Gives me the sharps lines I need, while blending the product beautifully, and the spoolie is the perfect size- not too long or too thick. Absolutely worth the €7.99, and also available from Cloud10Beauty (slightly cheaper, but slightly less selection). Also available in some pharmacies, so well worth checking up on. If you are in the market, please buy this brush. I don't know how you could regret it.

Next I like to set my brow. I am obsessed with the Benefit Gimme Brow setting gel. This gives hold, coverage, texture and depth to brows, and has a lovely small brush. It also costs €24.50 and lasts me less than 5 months, so it's just too much for me at the moment. So I've been using the L'Oreal Paris Perfection Brow Artist Plumper of late, and at €8.49, it may not be  love, but it is companionship, which is okay for now! I've been using mine for at least 6 months and it's still going. The brush is nice and petite, meaning I can apply and build where I want to, as well as manoeuvring the hairs where ever I need them. The colour pay off isn't as good, and while giving some texture and depth, the Gimme Brow is better. It does come in a transparent shade, giving more versatility. I've also used the Rimmel Brow This Way, and I hated it. The brush was far too large, the product was just too wet, and too much ended up on your face rather than in your brows. Please don't buy this. Spend slightly more on the L'oreal if you're not sure you need a brow gel.

Now to talk  about a brand I want to try, but I honestly feel so intimidated by- Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have no idea why I feed so intimidated by this brand. The people who use it tend to be perfection and their eyebrow skills are just something else. And they all seem to be able to draw fake hairs! Can someone please sign me up to a fake hair masterclass please? Their best known products are the Dipbrow and the Brow Wiz. The Dipbrow gives that very sharp, defined shape, while the Wiz gives a slightly more natural finish (based on the effect I feel I could achieve with them with my method of application). I tend to prefer more of a medium. Natural with a sharp edge is the best I could describe it. I also prefer to see/paw my product in person before spending big bucks. I think the main reason I'm so afraid of this brand is because the Dipbrow is a lot like the Inglot AMC liners, and I have quite a heavy hand, so I'd definitely end up with sharpie brows!

Two other companies come to mind for their dupes. Soap&Glory for their Archery 2-1, which is meant to be very similar to the Wiz, but comes in much less of a colour selection. Inglot have amazing dupes for the powder/wax duos, as well as their own brow pomade. I feel like Inglot actually have a better colour selection for ginger hair as well (I mention as I'm ginger obsessed. I can not wait to dye it back). Both of these brands, for quality and quantity, are very affordable. Basically high end drugstore (is that an oxymoron?).

My one lust-have for this week is the Benefit VIB kit, which unfortunately isn't available for sale, it was a publicity kit given to some of Ireland's better known bloggers. I would never stop touching and loving this kit. This is all my hopes, dreams and aspirations in a box.

This has been a slightly different format to last weeks Wishlist Wednesday. I didn't include every link for each product I spoke about, rather I just used the ones I would use most often myself. Did you like this, or do you prefer more options? I know this is a long blog post, but I could talk for days about brows! I'm still finding my feet so any and all feedback is always appreciated- feel free to Tweet me or contact me on Instagram or comment on my blog posts! Should I make a Facebook page? Let me know what you think!

Selfie Sunday

Hey there.

Welcome to another Selfie Sunday!

The stupid faces we have to pull to get them to look at the camera!

  • Dry Shampoo- Batiste "Bloom"
  • Cleanser- Garnier "Pure Active 3 in 1"
  • Toner- Lush "Tea Tree Water"
  • Serum- Boots Botanics "Radiance Concentrate Serum"
  • Moisturiser- Lush "Cosmetic Lad"
  • Eye Cream- Boots No. 7 "Protect & Perfect"
Today myself and Ellie Bells are having a PJ day, so I just did my basic hair and skin care, to stop me feeling completely vile. Ellie was up late last night with her teeth, so I said I'd be sound and keep her company, so today is going to be a basic day all round. Kris was having the time of his life at Electric Six, so won't be back 'til later and by then it'll be time for pyjamas anyway!

Today I need to talk about my favourite eye cream, the "Protect & Perfect" eye cream by No. 7, which has of course been discontinued. I buy a new eye cream roughly every 5 months-ish, especially with the €6.50 off skincare vouchers Boots do from time to time. It was €19.50 for 15mls, but was amazing. I usually use it at night and use the Boots Botanics "Triple Age Renewal Super Serum" for day time use, just to save some money on my skincare. For a while I used the Boots Botanics for day and night time and I really did feel that my fine lines around my eyes became more obvious and my skin gradually felt less plump. I bit the bullet and paid full price, without the voucher (dedication right there) for my "P & P" and haven't looked back since. Within 4 months I felt like my eye area looked plumper and younger overall. This was a lovely, creamy and rich formulation. It just felt so nourishing. No matter how useless a day I'm having, I always felt productive for applying this. It was aimed at 20's+ skin. I can't put into words how honestly devastated I am. Queen of the First World Problems here, I know. I apply with my ring finger around my Orbital bone area, the skin is so porous and thin here, there's not need to put it directly on the undereye/eyelid.

I went in happy out on Saturday looking for this and was quite disappointed to find it was discontinued. According to the lovely lady on the No. 7 counter "Protect & Perfect" has essentially been repackaged as the "Early Defence" range. Now I don't know how true that is, as I think they just scraped the "P & P" range. It is aimed at the 20's+ market. I'm just worried it will be a completely different formulation. Already I can say it seems much more fluid while the "P & P" was much creamier and richer. Only time will tell with this product, but I'll remain hopeful as I love No. 7 skincare.

I'll use the complete tube before I pass judgement but if I don't like it does anyone have any suggestions for a cream/serum/etc to try out? I've used this for about 4 years, so really am at a loss. I've previously tried the "Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced" and I just found it too much for my skin.

As always thank you for reading, and feedback is more than welcome and always appreciated. Feel free to leave any comments on this, on my Instagram, or Tweet me!

F.O.M.O. Friday

This week I've been reviewing "Don't Look At Me", a new (to me) face mask from Lush. Every Friday I'll be reviewing new products, so you won't have that Saturday night Fear of missing out!

It retails at €9.50, for 75g, and a use by date of roughly a month (made 18/11/15 and use by 15/12/15), which is the norm for a Lush fresh face mask. I'll use this up in the time no issues, as I'd happily use a face mask every 2/3 days. These masks are to be kept in the fridge. The heat and humidity of the bathroom can absolutely destroy their shelf life.

This picture does the colour absolutely no justice. The only way I could describe this blue is bon bon blue, the same shade as those delicious sweets. It's a lovely fun shade, and is quite misleading on the senses at first. This is a very funny face mask. I'd classify it as a "Grower Not A Show-er" It does not smell anywhere as sweet as you'd hope on first sniff, which is a bit disappointing. Online and in-store it's billed as being packed full of zingy lemon juice but I could only pick that up as an end note. But in the shower, because the humidity and temperature increases your sense of smell, it became a medium citrus blast. Once you're in the shower this is a nice mask. I don't think I'd like it as a sitting around mask. Outside of the steam in the bathroom it smells quite damp or something. My bestie Dale couldn't quite put her finger on it either.

After my first use I just found it too middle of the road for me and my skin. I'm combination/oily, with a tendency to suffer from some dehydration. After this mask my skin felt quite hydrated, which could be down to the mask, or that I use slightly more moisturiser after a mask, or a combination of both. I got an ok scrub out of the mask, which could be the mask, my elbow grease, or a combination of both. Before using this mask if I wanted to feel beautifully plumped and moisturised after a mask I'd opt for Oatifix, which jut makes me feel like a goddess, and if I wanted a good scrub from a mask I'd go for my old reliable, Love Lettuce, which makes me feel so clean and gives me the cutest ruddy cheeks which die down to a lovely creamy complexion every time. I usually prefer for myself one or the other, not a combination.

Please excuse how exhausted I look, and notice how clear my skin looks!

Saying that, after a week and a half of use, I am slightly swayed by this product. I feel like if you're in the mood for a mask to treat your skin and say, "Thanks for being good, I feel like I've been working you hard and in 2 weeks I think you might have a break out, but I want to catch it before it starts so here you go. Luv yaaaaaaaa" My skin does feel clean after and I don't consider it a waste of money. I probably won't repurchase until I'm back to work and have some disposable income again, but that's due to my own preferences rather than a fault of the product. I've had no break out issues, which I rarely do from any Lush products. I also unexpectedly got my period and didn't get very bad spots, as I can do. It's too soon to put this down to the mask or my hormones.

I certainly wouldn't call this a disappointing product, but I feel like you'd have to know your skin quite well to get the most from it. This is certainly a product to keep your skin tipping along, rather than to fix any issues.Right now, financially speaking, there are better products for my skin, but I really do feel once I'm back to work and can afford it, this will be a regular in my fridge in the run up to Sept 2017 (did I mention I'm getting married? *insert smuggest emoji known to man* LOL JK my nerves if I was that much a dose unless ripping the piss.).

As always, if you've liked this, or would like a semi regular run through of the Lush fresh face masks (from the perspective of combination/oily skin, which does get dehydrated), please comment, or show me some love on my Instagram.

Wishlist Wednesday

Hey there.

In today's post I'll be talking about some products I've been lusting after for quite awhile. I'll also show a few products at different price points, to show you don't necessarily have to break the bank, unless you want to, in which case please do and let me live vicariously through your spending.

This week I'm going to focus on liquid to matte lipsticks. These are a relatively new sensation, but I really do think they are a game changer. If applied well, they last all day, barely transfer and now you have more than just a flat matte option. I am naturally drawn to matte lipsticks myself, I have a good lip preparation routine and don't find mattes that drying as a result. I also love that I don't have to reapply every 2-3 hours. There's a few brands I've really been obsessing about lately too.

Jeffree Starr Cosmetic's Christmas releases from their Facebook page.

The first  brand I need to talk about has to be Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Created by an absolute vision, it's a vegan and cruelty free brand that packs a lot of punch. They retail at $18 for 5.6ml  which really isn't too bad, but then you consider the cost of delivery. If you buy from Jeffree Star Cosmetics it's free delivery on shopping baskets over $100, but if you purchase from Beautylish you get free delivery to Ireland on baskets over $50, which makes it seem way cheaper. The only thing about buying from secondary retailers like Beautylish is that colours you want won't be restocked as often as they will be from the main source. Coming up to Black Friday you can definitely expect some shipping deals to surface, if you have the patience for it. I generally don't, but I'm also a complete techno-phobe.

A selection from their collection named for Disney princesses.

If I talk about JSC, I have to mention LASplash Cosmetics. I've noticed online retailers seem to have the ability to choose more "alternative" colours than those who have a counter to answer to. I think their Day of the Dead collection is a great example of this, and shows that mattes don't need to be flat. They offer 6 beautiful metallic, almost foiled shades, Catrina being my pick of the litter. The only draw back is that while they retail at $14 (I can't find a quantity for this brand), it's $27.95 to ship to Ireland, which is a bad enough dose, without the ridiculous customs charges a lot of people get hit by. Customs charges really seem up to absolute luck in Ireland. Some pay every single time, and some people never get hit by them! Buuuut if you order from All Cosmetics Wholesale there seems to be free shipping to Ireland, but again, much less of a selection. They seem to only have some of their more "wearable" shades.

Above are some of their more alternative shades, photo sourced from their Facebook page.

I couldn't do a post on liquid lipstick and not mention Anastasia Beverly Hills. Originally known for her magic with brows, the company has now spread to contouring and liquid lipsticks. I'm so obsessed with these. Whoever is Head of Marketing deserves multiple handshakes. It just seems like such a glamourous brand. And when I wear lipstick that's what I want. I'm fairly sure I won't get married unless I'm wearing Heathers, a beautiful oxblood shade. I want to be a woman who drinks some water and doesn't leave a manky lip mark on my glass. I just want to be glamourous and put together, and these lipsticks are the key I'm fairly sure. They're $20 (again can't find the quantity, which is disappointing) and are $17.95 for delivery to Ireland. Have read online there are a lot of issues with ordering, such as slow processing and dispatch, and sometimes issues with the order once it's arrived. They can be bought in Macy's in the US, so if you're over there you can actually see them before purchasing, which is always nice.

Liberated from Sleek MakeUp's Twitter account.

Now, my last two choices are much more easily accessed for us Irish girls. First up we have Sleek, available from Boots online, and in larger stores, as well as from thier own online store. Their Matte Me collection isn't the largest, with 6 somewhat varied colours. I have Fandango Purple myself and I'm a huge fan. It's a beautiful, unusual purple shade, true to colour. Applies easily, but does flake off with wear, but for €6.49 it's hard to beat. Spend €25 online and you get free store collection, spend €50 and you get free home delivery, but it does take a day or two longer.

From a wonderful Twitter account.

Lastly we have TheBalm and their Meet Matt(e) Hughes collection (7.4ml), available from both Cloud10Beauty and very recently Debenhams (online only for Cork so far, but instore in Dublin). They retail at €15.50, with Debenhams currently doing 10% off right now. Cloud10Beauty do free delivery in Ireland on orders over €25 and Debenhams offer free standard delivery on orders over €30. To be honest, this is the collection I am least excited for. There just isn't enough variation in colour for the price you pay. I'd love to see a deep, dirty plum, or a very flashy magenta. I don't think you can really fault a brand for personal choice though, and you get oceans of product for the price.

All in all, if I could afford them I'd have several Jeffree Star and ABH liquid lipsticks, but for now I'll stick to my Sleek with the hope that TheBalm will release some variation. If you have any brands you think I'd be interested in, please leave a comment here or on my latest Instagram snap!
